Dubai obtains the safe stamp for tourism amid for pandemic

The World Travel and Tourism Council (WTTC) has awarded Dubai a global safety and hygiene stamp to show UAE’s commitment to reopening tourism sector follow COVID-19 outbreak.

WTTC is a council that represents travels and tourism for private sector. In light of the current pandemic, the organization has created a Safe Stamp to allow passengers and tourists identify business and destinations around the world that have adopted health and hygiene protocols.

Protocols of assessment are based on the guidance provided by the World Health Organization (WHO) and the European Center for Disease and Prevention Control. The criteria were devised by the experience of WTTC’s member countries fighting the COVID-19 pandemic.

The United Nations World Travel Organization (UNTWO) has welcomed this move of Safe Stamp, as it prioritizes the safety and hygiene of passengers at the utmost levels possible.

According to Helal Saeed Al Marri, the Director-General of Dubai Department Tourism and Commerce Marketing (DTCM) while speaking to The National: “The WTTC’s Safe Travels stamp endorses Dubai’s strong global co-operation in combating the pandemic with comprehensive and effective strategies to ensure travellers health and safety”.

Countries around the world have highly appreciated the UAE’s efforts on the mission to curb COVID-19. According to Deep Knowledge Group, a consortium of tech companies and non-profit organizations (NGO) ranked the UAE the 11th in terms of response to the pandemic.

Costa Rica, Indonesia, Rwanda, Tobago, and Tanzania are also among the latest recipients of the health and safety stamp.
