Passengers now flying with Etihad Airways can get their COVID 19 tested at their homes.
The national carrier of UAE has partnered up with Mediclinic Middle East to offer this convenient service. A PCR test would be either conducted at their houses or in a Mediclinic facility prior to departure. All passengers outbound from Abu Dhabi to the world would be able to able to utilize the services provided.
This initiative is part of Etihad’s wellness sanitization and safety programme, which is recently introduced to ensure the airlines commitment to highest level of hygiene standards are maintained at every stage of customer journey.
Travelers are advised to visit www.etihad.com prior to departure so that specific guidelines to destinations would be shown as different countries have different rules. Travelling out of UAE will not need a COVID test but several countries now has demanded for a COVID 19 negative test before the flight to the destination.
“Having the PCR test conducted would reduce the stress in passengers while travelling in these challenging period” said Dr. Nadia Batsaki, vice president of Etihad Airways in an interview with The National.
After booking a flight with Etihad, travelers must contact Mediclinic to book appointment for in-home testing. This can be done through the means of telephone at 800 2022 or email at etihad@mediclinic.ae. It is not mandatory to be done from houses, it can be done from Mediclinic facilities in Abu Dhabi, Al Ain or Dubai on an appointment basis. The test results would be received in 24 hours.
If tested negative, good to go for travel. If tested positive, passenger would need to reschedule their travel plans and the result details would be informed to Department of Health. Patient would be instructed to follow a strict 14 day quarantine in accordance with UAE health guidelines.
