Authorities in Rwanda has announced that the resumption of commercial flights to the country would be from August 1, amid easing COVID restrictions.
As of now, Kigali Airport (KGL) has closed all commercial passenger flights. But they do receive Charter Flights for tourists, humanitarian flights, cargo flights, technical landings with no passengers deboarding the aircraft.
Passengers arriving/transiting at Rwandan airports must provide the proof that they are COVID 19 negative and should be valid 72 hours or three days before arrival in Rwanda. Passengers arriving at Rwanda must go on a 14-day quarantine in a government-mandated facility or hotel. The country will welcome visitors arriving in the country by showing the COVID negative certificate.
Tourists arriving at Kigali must undergo a second test from the airport. If tourists hold the first result from the departing destination, it must be mailed to lab@rbc.gov.rw before departure. The tourists would have an RT-PCR test, would be expected to wait for 8 hours in a designated hotel. This process is applicable for a direct flight. Departing visitors would be offered a COVID test at the airport.
Rwandan authorities expect visitors to abide by the Health ministry guidelines while visiting tourist attractions.
